If you take a look at the earlier posts in this blog, one of the common themes is the focus on the integration of technology into companies’ marketing efforts. AJAX, mobile devices, video and similar Web 2.0/3.0 technologies are cool, but they’re not sufficiently valuable to marketers if they don’t know their capabilities and how to take advantage of those capabilities. Furthermore, the strategies that are developed that take advantage of these new technologies must be well-informed and finely targeted to ensure that marketers are reaching their intended audience. It’s not enough just to use the technology. Success requires truly understanding these new technologies. Success requires Marketnology.
It should be apparent that Marketnology is a mash-up, if you will, of the words marketing and technology. We define it as the science of aligning marketing and technology to engage consumers. To us, Marketnology means understanding consumers’ technology preferences and developing marketing strategies that rely on those preferences to deliver relevant and engaging messages that drive customers to action.
On the Marketnology blog, you’ll find our thoughts on Marketnology, how it’s being used by corporate marketers and how you can use it in your own marketing efforts to improve your results.
Welcome to the Marketnology blog. Take a look around and let us know what you think about our thoughts. Enjoy!
